Wine & Champagne bar Augusta is the only wine bar on the Lošinj Island, so it’s not working against much competition. It has, however, managed to become quite reputable in the area, since the owner, Šime Milanović, opened it in the summer of 2015 in Mali Lošinj. Although located in a highly tourist location, it is open during the entire year. Of course, as one would expect, it is much more lively and busy during the tourist season, and so is the wine list they offer. Usually it’s around 50 labels of mostly Croatian (but also some imported) wine, carefully selected by the head sommelier Ivan Medved.

Many of those wines will be offered by the glass, but again, the greatest chance of getting the wine you want by the glass will be during the busy tourist season. As for the champagnes, they are proud to have just about all the best Croatian sparkling wine, many Italian proseccos and a few of the French on their wine list. In addition to wine, they offer platters of pršut and cheese (many local cheeses are well known), selection of spirits (both local and imported), excellent coffee for the morning enjoyment and some craft beers.

During the winter they have a lot of various events in the bar, live music and parties on the weekends (and special occasions, like Hello-wine parties), with the selection of music ranging from world-known DJ’s to Slavonian tamburica bands. They also organise guided wine-tasting and wine-pairing evenings at very affordable prices, and promotions of various wine labels, ladies nights etc.

So, whether you’re on Mali Lošinj as a tourist during the busy summer season, or enjoying the island in the less crowded part of the year, having a glass of wine in the one and only wine bar on the island is a must if you’re a wine lover.
